India to play 3 ODIs vs Bangla
Dhaka: India will play against Bangladesh in a short three-match ODI series between June 15 and 19, the Bangladesh Cricket Board announced on Wednesday. The ODI series, sandwiched between the ongoing IPl and the long tour of England starting latter next month will be played on June 15, 17 and 19. All the three matches will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium at Mirpur. “Bangladesh Cricket Board is glad to announce the itinerary of India tour to Bangladesh for a three-match ODI series in June 2014. The Indian Cricket Team will arrive in Dhaka on 13 June and will play against the host on 15, 17 and 19 June, 2014, at SBNCS, Mirpur,” the BCB said while announcing the itinerary. “The visitors will depart on the 20th of June,” it said. Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Virat Kohli are unlikely to be on the tour ahead of a long season starting with the England trip and culminating with the 2015 World Cup. India’s tour to Bangladesh was in principle agreed upon between the Boards at the time of FTP negotiations in February and signed on the dotted lines on the sidelines of the ICC executive board meeting last month.
MCA in a fix over SRK’s entry
Mumbai: The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) finds itself in a catch-22 situation as it may have to allow Kolkata Knight Riders’ co-owner Shah Rukh Khan at Wankhede stadium if it wants to host the IPl final on June 1. One of the conditions put forth by Indian Premier league Chairman Ranjib Biswal to MCA, one was to allow entry to all franchise owners and officials for hosting the finals. The Bollywood superstar was banned for five years from entering MCA premises, including the Wankhede Stadium, by the Association’s managing committee, headed by the late Vilasrao Deshmukh, on May 18, 2012 after he was involved in a skirmish with security staff and officials of the cricket body after his team’s victory over Mumbai Indians two nights earlier. Biswal had on Tuesday replied to protest letter it received from the MCA attaching a list of do’s and dont’s, which have been clearly defined in the letter. Some of the other conditions put out by the IPl were to allot 85 per cent parking slots to IPl, no ambush marketing at the stadium, no bursting of fire crackers post 10 pm, limited number of accreditations to MCA members. The MCA will have a managing committee meeting on Thursday evening to discuss these conditions.
Srini attended ipl gc meet: verma
New Delhi: The unrecognised Cricket Association of Bihar chief Aditya Verma on Wednesday asked BCCI’s interim President Sunil Gavaskar to clarify whether N Srinivasan attended an IPl Governing Council despite a Supreme Court order restraining him from participating in any Board activity. Citing the Supreme Court order, which forced Srinivasan to step aside as BCCI President pending an inquiry into the IPl spot-fixing and betting scandal, Verma alleged that the Chennai-strongman conducted a secret meeting of the IPl Governing Council in Ranchi. “Being a petitioner in this matter, I want your clarification regarding Srinivasan staying in Ranchi during the Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals match,” Verma said.
