MCA-BCCI on collision course
Mumbai: Miffed at the IPl Governing Council's sudden decision to shift the final of the T20 league, the Sharad Pawar-headed Mumbai Cricket Association appears set to take on the BCCI and has called for an emergency meeting on Monday to discuss the Board's snub. "There will be a managing committee meeting of the MCA to discuss the IPl issue," MCA's treasurer Vinod Deshpande said. Officials of the MCA have already handed over their IPl accreditations. The meeting is apparently being convened at short notice to decide on the future course of action with some members not willing to take things lying down over what they perceive as a slap on the face of one of BCCI's permanent Test centres. The convening of emergency meeting of MCA's managing committee comes close on the heels of the office bearers and panel members' decision to hand over their accreditations.
Sanjay Hazare removed
New Delhi: Umpire Sanjay Hazare has been removed by Indian Premier league committee apparently for a mistake he committed during an IPl match between Delhi Daredevils and Rajasthan Royals here on May 3. Hazare made a controversial call as he shot down a run-out appeal made by RR players against Daredevils skipper Pietersen without referring to third umpire, even though TV replays appeared to show that the Englishman was out of his crease. IPl chairman Ranjib Biswal said Hazare, 53, will not be umpiring any more matches for the rest of the tournament. "He has been removed. There are many reasons," Biswal said. Hazare admitted to his blunder. "I told him (the match referee) the same thing. It was a human error. Once I had made the decision I could not correct it," he said.
