Gurmeet Choudhary, who did shows like Geet-Hui Sabse Parayi and Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi and films like Khamoshiyan, is back on TV with I Can Do That on Zee TV. He talks to SATENDRA SINGH about the show and how winning is not his goal, but winning hearts is
The concept of the show — I Can Do That — which is being hosted by Farhan Akhtar, similar to the US show by the same name has a very unique and interesting format. The participants, (12 of them) will have to learn new skills every week and the audience will be entertained with song and dance sequences, stunts and tasks like walking a tight rope or doing a stunt on a BMX bicycle.
“Today, if you open the television, you will find dance and music reality shows everywhere. I Can Do That, which has gained international prominence, is an action show which is very unique to the Indian platform and I am sure people are going to love it,” Gurmeet Choudhary, one of the participants of the show says.
Usually people take years to learn new skill-sets but in the show, the contestants will be given only seven days. “The tasks, I am sure will be very difficult but the audience is going to love our performances. This concept is something that needed to be explored on Indian TV. Most people have got tired of watching the same dance and singing reality shows,” Choudhary tells you, adding that between all the action, Farhan will add some fun element. “Farhan is a super cool person and will bring in his own style of fun to the show as the host,” he says.
Interestingly, Choudhary who has done reality shows like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 7, Nach Baliye 6 and Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 5 had initially turned down the offer because he was shooting for a movie. But then he was shown the DVD of the show aired in the US which he found thrilling and said yes. “For me, a reality show should be something which showcases your talent, where you get to learn different things. Through this show, I found the perfect platform for learning new skills and showcasing my talent,” Choudhary says.
Some of the tasks that Choudhary will be seen doing include a stunt on BMX bicycle. I told my wife that if I stopped getting work, I would still be able to make money from performing bike stunts on the footpaths of Mumbai,” Choudhary quips adding that he is very choosy about the kind of projects he undertakes.
“I like to experiment with my roles. For example, in my debut film Khamoshiyan, I have carried a different look. This is to avoid getting type-cast. Even when I do a reality show, it is never about just money. I do a show to entertain people. Whatever I do, I give it my 100 per cent. I perform for the audience, I perform to win hearts and that is what really matters to me,” Choudhary tells you.
