In 1975 when Sholay was released, dialogues became a hit including Basanti in kutto ke aagey mat naachna. Cut to 2016 — 31 years later — and you have song — In kutton ke samne naach Basanti naach. This just goes to show where Hindi cinema is going — literally to the dogs. So, in some ways Ram Kapoor has redeemed himself for having acted in Kuch Kuch locha Hai; Mastizaade can be termed as the worst sex comedy thus far by Bollywood. One would have preferred something that made a little sense considering it has been produced by Pritish Nandy Communications.
The directors and the producers have to understand that keeping names like lele, Kele, Boobna, etc are passe and don’t even bring a smirk let alone evoke any kind of laughter. Second, talking about bananas, balls and oranges as a reference point to different male and female body parts is annoying not funny; it is something that even Class V students don’t do.
If one has to make a sex comedy, go the whole way or don’t make them. As for Tusshar Kapoor and Vir Das, who play perverts with ‘chick-rays’, they amble along on a plot and storyline that is non-existent. But then what can one expect from a film that even has a song titled Horn nacho.
