Bollywood really doesn’t know how to make a good spooky film or should one say a movie with the bhoot or more precisely a bhatakti aatma which has only one agenda — don’t let go of the woman as it wants her for itself. Our film industry is of the opinion that the spook factor stems from a dead man who is more like a zombie, room keys falling off the desk, doors opening and closing on their own, the glass windows opening and white curtains blowing in the wind. These scenes are so common inbhoot movies now that the fear factor is almost missing.

Having said this, the Bhatt camp should be given a pat on the back for managing to catch one unawares and end up giving a heebie-jeebie in a place or two. In fact, the first half is gripping and the build-up is good. But what makes them think that the audience leaves its brains behind and that whatever they show on the 70 mm in the name of a ghost film will be gobbled upIJ

Take an example. A lone woman walking in the middle of the road takes a lift from a man and ends up in his mansion in the middle of nowhere. If this is not enough she even drinks wine with him. Did mommy not teach her that talking with strangers will get you into lots of troubleIJ

But not all is lost in thiskhamoshi. Ali Fazal and Gurmeet Choudhary do manage to give a passable performance. As for the lady in question, she definitely needs to lose her accent and fast. Unfortunately, the childish display of what evil is all about doesn’t work and takes away the fear quotient.
