Yes, there are way too many characters. Yes, there are way too many twists and turns. Yes, there are way too many secrets. Yes, there are way too many who want to get their hands on the Sword of Power and the legend associated with it — whoever wields it rules the throne. This latest Netflix offering based on an American fantasy based on the illustrated novel of the same name by Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler manages to ensure that one binge watches and curses oneself since there is no news when the second season will be out.

Despite the fact that the web series sound and appear to be familiar —remember Game of Thrones? What manages to capture one’s attention is the led character Nimue — a young heroine with a mysterious gift destined to become the powerful yet tragic Lady of the Lake.

We know it is tragic since the opening scene gives away what will behalf our heroine at least in this season. In the episodes to follow, it just confirms the same. It is also interesting to see how the Arthurian legend comes to life with its familiar characters.

Katherine Langford as Nimue carries the weight of her character with ease. She brings out the vulnerability and innocence of Nimue to fore and yet grows into her skins as the story progresses. Another plus are the stunning locales.

Even though the series are somewhat familiar, one doesn’t get bored. For Season 2 — we want more Merlin, more Arthur and definitely more Nimue even if she is at the bottom of the lake.
