Gangreiliu Panmei travelled to Mumbai to talk to the actors and script-writer of Paramavatar Shree Krishna, the latest divinity show on &TV
Showmakers, over the years, have told tales of maakhan chor. The first was for DD — Shri Krishna by Ramanand Sagar, then came Jai Shri Krishna on Colors.
So it was surprising that showmakers decided to narrate Krishna’s story all over again. However, they say, it is with a difference. It is all about baal Krishna, the lord’s childhood.
The show that went on air recently on &TV is titled Paramavatar Shree Khrishna. It narrates the adventurous journey from being the mischievous Nandlal who was loved by his people, to becoming lord Krishna, the incarnation of Vishnu.
The show highlights the different facets of Krishna’s life. The series draws the viewer’s attention with a twist that began much before he was born, wherein Kans, his maternal uncle, makes his would-be parents Devaki and Vasudev captive after an akashvani says that his sister eighth child would be the reason for his death.
“Although people have grown up listening to Krishna’s story, I wanted to give a perspective to the mythological adventures of his early life. The series will answer questions of whys and where offs on the life of Krishna,” scriptwriter Cl Siana, tells you.
The viewers will see the unconditional love of Vasudev who will go any length to keep his child safe and ensure no harm comes his way. The viewers will also get to see different facets of Hinduism as it explores the Vedic civilisation.
The little Krishna, played by four-year-old Nirnaj Samadhiya from Indore, is all for playing the naughty Krishna. His mother tells you that he is very fond of acting and for now, she is all for it.
Gulki Joshi, who plays Devaki, says that Nirnaj is an amazing kid and very confident before the camera.
“He knows exactly what he is doing. At times, I feel he is more than all of us put together. He knows where to look, when and how to smile and what to talk. He is the definition of a smart kid,” Joshi says.
With advanced visual effects, huge sets, intricate costumes and jewellery that depicts the art and culture of the country, the show will be a delight for the viewers.
Manish Wadhanan, who played Chanakya in Chandragupta Maurya, plays Kans. “It was challenging to play this character since Kans was known for his atrocities and cruelty. I have given my best where the audience will simply hate me. I hope that the audience will appreciate the effort that has gone into playing this negative role,” Wadhanan says.
Siana tells you that the reason for the Monday to Friday 8.30 pm time slot was because everyone can sit and watch this show.
“Usually people reach home around 8 pm. We want everyone to watch it hence almost all mythological shows are aired in the 8 to 9 pm slot,’’ Siana explains.
