Maharashtra-based housewife and home tutor Megha Patil is a true fighter and it was her sheer dedication and family’s support that she won Rs 1 crore on Kaun Banega Crorepati. She spoke with SANGEETA YADAV about her experience on this reality show
On winning Rs 1 crore
I never thought that I could come this far and be called a crorepati. During the telecast of the show, I used to answer the questions like a pro. So, my family pushed me to participate in it. I even took my elder son Sanketh’s help in phone a friend option on my Rs 1 crore question and he turned out to be lucky. If I didn’t have my family’s support, this would not have happened.
On meeting big b
It’s a very pleasant feeling to be with superstar Amitabh Bachchan. Unko milke dhanya ho gayi. He is very cordial and makes you feel special. He couldn’t believe that I’m a cancer patient.
On the memorable moment
When Amitabh Bachchan took my name in the fastest finger first round. I was sitting looking around when he took my name and for a moment I went completely blank. But then jumped up from my seat and went to Big B. I couldn't believe that I have made it to the hot seat.
On her illness
I was detected with breast cancer in 2006 and was on the road to recovery post-op when the doctors in 2007 said that I had liver cancer as well. My treatment is still going on and I never let anybody else know about my illness. I hate it when people sympathise with me.
On spending Rs 1 crore
I’ll save some money for my children's’ education and a part of the winning will be spent on my cancer treatment.
