Know what a woman wants

Here is a chance for every man to find out what a woman wants, says Harshit Nagpal

Comedy is a genre that everyone loves to be a part of. To join the evergreen comedy shows like Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain, Har Mard Ka Dard is all set to go on air from February 14, 2017 on like Ok. The show brings in lots of laughs and useful tips for those men who want to know what a woman wants.

To give a sneak peek into what the show is all about, a skit was performed. The lead protagonist, Vinod Khanna played by Faisal Rashid, a typical Punjabi husband is trying to figure out what gift should be given to her wife Sonu, who is a Gujarati, played by Jinal Belani. But fails miserably. He appeals to the Gods to give him an insight to what a woman wants. To solve his problem, a boon is granted. Whether he is able to take advantage of this or not, is a major suspense and the makers want it to keep the mystery till  the show begins.

The producers are excited and are hopeful that the audience will love the concept since it is something that is new to TV. “This is fam-com drama. The whole family can sit together and enjoy it. It is not your typical saas-bahu or a love story that the viewers are used to. This show is about incidents that are very relatable,” Deeya Singh, the co-producer of the show, tells you.

The reason why the showmakers took this storyline was because each man wants to know ki ek woman ko kya chhahiye and yet it remains the greatest mysteries of all. “Nothing on these lines has ever been shown on Indian TV before. Every man faces this problem but has no answers. In fact, we got the idea of the show one day while I was talking with my wife, Deeya. She asked me if she was fat. I was stumped and didn’t know how to answer this question. This got us thinking and end result is in front of you — a show that tries to address this problem. We collected more such instances. Shailesh lodha (part of the show) guided us a lot; he brought in a lot of comic effect and helped with the script as well,” Tony Singh, the co-producer says.

Parmeet Sethi, the director of the show did the rest — to bring everything alive and to guide the actors towards what he wants. Jinal tells you that he is the points person and keeps everything and everyone cool and calm even when there is a glitch.

“Parmeet sir is very supportive. He has great comic timing and that makes all the difference. Through his direction, it all plays out beautifully during the shoot. Usually you have a director’s actor where the actors act according to the director, but Parmeet sir is an actor’s director. He gives the question and leaves the rest to us. We have the freedom to bring in our interpretation” Jinal says.
