This season of KBC7 saw celebrities like Shahid Kapur, Ranbir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Kajol on the hot seat. The show also saw two contestants walking away with a crore each. SANGEETA YADAV brings you a report on Sony’s flagship show
After 36 episodes, KBC season 7 comes to an end today. But before the curtains fall, there is plenty of entertainment. Big B will be seen in a double role on the small screen. He poses as lallan bhaiya, a KBC contestant. Ayushmaan Khurana pays a surprise visit along with Taj Mohammad Rangrez, the first crorepati of KBC 7.
lallan bhaiya will be seen dressed in a dhoti-kurta, with a gamchha tied on his head and sporting sunglasses. He’ll sit in front of the Big B and have everyone in splits, teasing the host about the ladies whom he has mentioned on the show. The entertainment quotient will go a few notches higher when lallan bhaiya will sing Big B’s hit song Jumma chumma de de from the movie Hum. Tweeting about the shooting about the last day of the shooting Big B tweeted: “Another day at KBC, the last for this season… but hope it fills again by the (next) year (and) fun becomes at KBC… without the inputs from the extended family, nothing would have moved. Thank you.”
There are reports that the approximate production cost of this season of KBC was around Rs 100 crore. Though the show opened with 8,950 TVT, it couldn’t garner much viewership for the coming episodes. In October its rating fell to 3,500. But on a digital platform, the KBC Web Game, which allowed gamers to test their speed and accuracy on the hot seat, emerged as a hit witnessing more than 4.3 million plays since its launch. The game is packed with a host of rich and immersive video content, exciting features and real-like gaming experience. The winners of the game got iPads, gift vouchers and an opportunity to watch the show live.
The episode will also feature the second crorepati, the only woman to become the crorepati — Firoz Fatma from Saharanpur, UP. “There are no book shops in our village. We had to travel 15 km to buy a book. I prepared for KBC by reading books and newspapers,” 22-year-old Fatma tells you adding that she had been trying to get into the show for the past four years.
The most challenging task for her was to clear the fastest finger first round. “When I entered the first level of fastest finger first, I couldn’t get through, in the second attempt I was at No four but I was lucky in round three. When Big B took my name, I couldn’t believe my ears. But then the siren sounded. The next day, Big B, spoke with me so softly. He is a very down to earth person,” Fatma recounts.
What was the question that won her the Rs 1 croreIJ “The question was — Which is the first oldest Indian woman mountaineer to scale the seven continental peaksIJ The answer is Premlata Aggarwal. The Rs 3 crore question was difficult so I used flip option but that too was tough. So I quit.
With her winnings Fatma intends to clear the bank loan her father had taken for her and her sister’s education. “My father took two loans but he couldn’t it pay back while he was alive. The only source of income is from the mango orchard. We have even got a notice from the bank to the auction of the land that was pledged as security. With this money, I will be able to pay back the dues and continue my studies. Everybody used to tell my father that educating girls was a waste of time. But my father never made any distinction between a girl or a boy. After my win, people have told my mother that ‘your daughters are bright’. It is good that they are so well-educated,” Fatma says.
like Fatma, Rajasthan’s Taj Mohammad Rangrez, the first crorepati of KBC 7 also feels that the show has been a life changer. “I have been a teacher for 10 years. My colleagues would tell me that since it is a Government job, I should lead relax but I loved reading. They used to tell me ki itna padhai kerke kya keregaIJ Kuch nai hone wala itna padh ker. Jaha pe hai, wahi pe he rahega. But now, after winning, they are all praise for me. I had been trying to get into KBC for two years with an aim that even if I win Rs 1 lakh in ghar baitho jeeto contest, it was a lot of money,” Rangrez, a history teacher at Government Senior Secondary School, Fatehnagar, tells you. Though the show bids adieu, the message — Seekhna Bandh Toh Jeetna Bandh and Sirf Gyann Hi Aapko Aapka Haq Dilata Hai will remain with millions of people.
