Malishka Mendonca, popular Mumbai-based RJ, says dancing is her middle name and being a hostess her fantasy. This entertainment ka pataka bid farewell to Jhalak on a high note on Saturday. Deebashree Mohanty speaks with her to know more about her journey in the dance reality show
It must have been a dream come true for you when you made it in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (JDJ)IJ
Yes. And I wanted the dream to last longer. Everyone on the sets was so unhappy when I was voted out. Honestly, I thought it was the people around me who were more unhappy than me. Everyone came to me and said they would miss me when I am gone. I was so touched. Apart from the fun, masti and dancing, the fact that the guard and the spot boy came over to say bye was my biggest prize. I am content with my stint.
What was more fun on the sets — dancing or the masti you created on the showIJ
Both. I have no formal training in dance but I love to dance and can move to any number. Apart from learning new forms of dance and routines, I will miss the fun factor on JDJ. Everyone was so chilled out. They never behaved like competitors. The atmosphere in a reality show makes all the difference and JDJ has an electric ambience.
Who do you think will lift the trophy this timeIJ
I would love Tj from Canada to win because she had become my closest friend. Dance wise, she and Shakti are very close. As a non-dancer making it big, I would put my money on Ashish. He is very good and has fan following. Mouni is a terrific dancer too.
How was your rapport with the judgesIJ
I have been a huge Madhuri Dixit fan so it was out of the world to be just around her. She is a great personality with a warm demeanor. She used to spend a lot of time with contestants struggling to find their feet. She is a great motivator. Karan Johar, on the other, hand was all about fun and jokes. He loved to lighten up the mood. Remo sir was his usual strict self but there is something cute about that too.
Now whatIJ
I have never believed in taking a break from work, so I am going to be back in my office and chatting with my fans on the radio soon. I love talking and make money doing so. But I haven’t shut doors for other opportunities. If I am approcahed for a reality show, I will not shy away.
Is there a particular thing that you would like to doIJ
I would love to be a TV presenter. I love the camera and I want to be in front of it for a long time. I am not ashamed of my figure. I am proud of it.
What’s your favourite dance style IJ
like I said earlier, I can move to any beat. And I set my own style which is a little bit of hip-hop, Bollywood thumkas and the soft movements of salsa. Inka combination kya todu lagta hai na. I had a lot of things planned for JDJ, but bhagwan meri sunte hi nahin.
