Happy 1,000

SANGEETA YADAV

Sixteen years since being on air, CID completes a staggering 1,000 episodes this week on Sony Entertainment. Unique content and fresh script beings its USP. Sangeeta Yadav reports

Aditya Srivastav aka Abhijeet

When I signed the contract for CID for a few episodes I had not envisaged that the show will complete 1,000 episodes. I enjoy being Abhijeet in the show. This show has given me a lot of opportunities. The success lies in the fact that this is a wholesome entertainment show which excites children and adults alike. The violence element is limited only to Daya’s thappad. Our mission is to bring something unique to the table. There are times when people have mistaken us to be real-life investigators and have asked us to help them with their problems. That boosts our morale.

BP Singh, creative writer & producer

Though we have a niche audience, it’s a complete family show. CID has reached the youngsters through social networking websites. The most memorable moment was when we aired 111 minutes of an episode without any cuts. This made an entry into the limca Book of Records and Guinness Book of World Records. We have a dedicated team of 12 writers, 300 helpers and six directors. Scripting is the most difficult part. Once that is done, it’s circulated to the creative writers who give suggestions. This takes five to six days. Then it goes to production that looks after the pre-production requirements like locations for the shoot, casting, arranging costumes, etc. Then it goes to the director who shoots the sequences which takes six days.
