Rated: 5/10
There are no guesses why this movie has this title; it is self-explanatory — a bomber who enters a school with a bomb around his neck which needs to be diffused provided certain tasks are completed. Nothing new here. There have been a number of movies that have been made where the hero has to pander to the whims and fancies of a terrorist so that he doesn’t blow up the place!
Collar Bomb comes with a twist and as the story unfolds one gets pulled into the story that gets bizarre as the minutes pass. From the word go, we know that our hero or should we say anti-hero Manoj Hesi played by Jimmy Shergill has a past where his hands are not so clean.
Director Dnyanesh Zoting, however takes the viewers on a rollercoaster journey with plenty of turns and twists that will keep one engrossed for 86 minutes. For a Hindi movie, it is a welcome change. The film doesn’t lose pace and the way it moves forward is rather intriguing. The reason for the short run-time could stem from the fact that Zoting has in the past directed three short films. In fact, many of our directors should take a leaf out of Collar Bomb and not drag the plot for the heck of it, taking away the essence of the storyline.
Shergill along with the other star cast do their part well. But it is Shergill, who plays the not so clean cop who shoulders the film as the plot unravels. It is here that the movie loses steam and while it had started off on a high note, the end is a damp squib just like a dud bomb that refuses to light up.
Over all, Collar Bomb makes for a one time watch if you can get past the many loopholes and the whimpering end.
