Dance ka maha mukabla

SANGEETA YADAV

The battle of street vs stage is all set to kickoff today at the biggest and new dance reality show So You Think You Can Dance... (SYTYCD) where talented dancers from across the country and abroad will compete for the title.

With judges like Madhuri Dixit, Terence lewis and Bosco Martis, who comes from a diverse dance background, the show is being touted as a grand affair on TV and the toughest one as well.

“SYTYCD is a show which starts where other dance reality shows end. That’s the level we’ve had in the auditions round. Unlike other reality shows, this one had too many audition levels, like the choreography round, prescribed choreography round and four levels of screening. The standard is international and only the best got through,” lewis says.

Mouni Roy and Ritvik Dhanjani will be the hosts of the show. The producers bring to you an interesting dance show format. “There is a big audition round that boils down to the sculling process in which people had to perform to their choreography, other’s choreography, getting into the groups at the last minute and much more. Out of 200 great performers, we’ve selected the top 20 stage performers and 20 street performers. This will be brought down to 10 each and then pair one stage one street for the jugalbandi round.

“One pair every week will get eliminated and the top 5 pairs will disintegrate and become individual competitors,” Abhishek Rege, COO, Endemol Shine India, tells you.

At today’s grand opening at 8:30 pm on &TV, there will be special performances by the three judges along with Tiger Shroff promoting his upcoming movie Baaghi.

Watch out for Madhuri who re-creating the magic on stage with her song O Re Piya from the movie Aaja Nachle.
