Over hundreds of youth, including girls and women, donated blood to commemorate World Blood Donor Day across Dhanbad and Bokaro on Friday.
Every year, on 14 June, countries around the world celebrate World Blood Donor Day (WBDD). The event serves to raise awareness about the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood, said Chandan Paul a member of Bengali Welfare Committee.
Under the banner of Bengali Welfare Society and Bengali Welfare Committee, a blood donation camp was also organsied at Geeta Shree Mandap at Durga Temple in Dhanbad while another camp was organsied at Luby Circular Road in joint associations with Bengali Welfare Committee, Press Club and Youth Club.
It was inaugurated by Kishore Kaushal SSP Dhanbad.
Speaking on the occasion, the SSP urged people to come forward and donate blood. Blood donation is the pious work.
