YSS Scholarship Department serves the educational needs of the economically backward and bright children by providing financial assistance every year. YSS has various categories of scholarships serving the educational needs of students of professional course, girl students, and those of the select school children belonging to the underprivileged socio-economic background.

Financial assistance given in the past helped the students to get admission in IIT Dhanbad. Their parents were roadside vendors and rickshaw pullers. These children are earning handsome perks now, and the families are out of poverty. This is a vital and pleasant change in their lives.

Yogoda Satsanga Society of India (YSS), founded in 1917, has been carrying out the spiritual and humanitarian work of its founder and Gurudeva Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda, the author of the spiritual classic Autobiography of a Yogi, for over 100 years. The Aims and Ideals of the society, formulated by Yoganandaji, guide the truth-seeker to live a complete and fulfilling life—in a balanced blend of spiritual practices and service to mankind.

One of the Aims and Ideals of YSS is "Serving mankind as one's larger Self", which serves as the mission statement for all the charitable and institutionalized undertakings of the society. Under this mission, YSS runs charitable educational institutions, provides scholarships to poor students, conduct charitable medical services, promotes spiritual outreach through the How-to-Live teachings of Yoganandaji, and conducts camps for children, and carries out relief work during national calamities.
