To mark 60 years of its formation, Xavier Institute of Social Service will organise an alumni meet, Confluence, bringing together the former students of the institute to discuss the plan of action regarding its academic as well as outreach programmes.

“The two-day alumni meet, to be organised on Friday and Saturday, will be the crucial part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations which began with the beginning of the current academic year. Through this meet, the institute is trying to bring together its most important stakeholders, the alumni,” said XISS Assistant Director Father Ranjit Toppo.

The event has been divided in five ‘Chaupals’ where several burning topics will be discussed. “The alumni have an emotional connect with the institute because of its social field work and rural camps. Considering this, we have decided to give our discussion session the rustic ambience of a village’s chaupal. The topics discussed will be contemporary, though,” said Fr Toppo.

The ‘Chaupals’ will discuss issues including talent landscape in 2030, digital India, sustainable development, economics of inclusive growth, rethinking marketing, along with XISS’s vision for coming years.

“We will also be honouring our former faculty members and students. We will be felicitating Directors, Deputy Directors and students from Silver and Golden Jubilee batches,” stated Fr Toppo.

The event will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Raghubar Das, along with Vice Chancellor of Birsa Institute of Technology MK Mishra.

“This event is not only an occasion of celebration but an opportunity to form plans for our course of action for future. The alumni will discuss and shape the roadmap and vision for XISS to follow in coming years. Being a business school, the changing trends of business world will be on focus here along with ideas to better our outreach to the less-privileged. This opportunity will be utilised to bring together suggestions to achieve this goals,” said head of Department of Rural Development MH Ansari.
