PNS

Women of Chutiyaro panchayat of Sadar block came out on the roads on Tuesday against the liquor mafias operating in the area. This unique attempt of women of Sadar block was led by newly-elected Mukhiya Shanti Devi and her deputy Veena Devi and 13 newly-elected ward members of the panchayat.

Women in large number came out from their houses with weapons like spear, axe, sticks etc. and took part in the rally called by the newly-elected members of the village local body. The rally passed through the entire area of the panchayat which is adjacent to Hazaribagh town. They were shouting slogans. They had arranged many boards having message to stop the use of liquor and to stop the business of liquor in the area.

Mukhiya Shanti Devi and her deputy Veena Devi said that it is due to liquor the poor people of our area are getting poorer and the environment of the area has also deteriorated. Bad effect of its use can easily be seen in the houses where men use it in front of their children.

The women taking part in this rally said that today we have come out just to warn those who consume it and to those who are illegally making liquor in the area. They said that if they will not take us seriously then any day we will come out again with our weapons and will destroy the shops and manufacturing units of liquor running in the area. They also said that soon we are going to impose a fine on those families whose members will be found making nuisance in the area after taking liquor.

This unique attempt of the women of villages has been welcomed by most of the conscious denizens of Hazaribagh and they have announced every possible support to them so that they can make their area free from manufacturing and use of liquor.
