Woman ends life with son in Palamu

PNS

A phone call on Monday night led a mother of three children to jump into a well with her three year old son at village Ramgarh under Chhaterpur police station in Palamu.  Two of her other children remained at home.

Shambhu Kumar Singh DSP Chhaterpur said, “Police on Tuesday retrieved the body of the mother identified as Sareeta Devi 28 years along with her three year old son called Vikas Kumar from a village well at Ramgarh village.”

The DSP said that the husband Pardeep Ram of the deceased Sareeta Devi  earns wages outside Jharkhand probably Banglore from where he made a call on her phone here last night and thereafter this woman and her three year old son were found  in a well at Ramgarh.

Sources said there is no foul play but a surge of emotion behind this twin loss of lives.

Singh guessed the conversation on phone between Sareeta Devi and her husband Pradeep Ram could have either ended on a bitter note or would have the quotient of infidelity on the part of the woman that so enraged Sareeta Devi that she in a fit of emotional turbulence jumped into the well along with her three years old son Vikash Kumar only to die floating in the well.

DSP said members of the woman’s family  have so far not lodged any written complaint nor the side of Pardeep Ram has come complaining to police but the police maintaining its standard procedure in such a matter went for the post mortem of the two despite woman side’s reluctance for any post mortem.

Singh said police will wait for the woman side to lodge complaint if any and if and when it comes to police lawful action will be initiated after a thorough probe.
