A45-year-old widow, Savita, of Ranital village under Palamu’s Chainpur police station was found raped and murdered and her body abandoned in the jungle of Semarya under the same police station.
DSP Hiralal Ravi has confirmed the murder and recovery of the body of the widow. According to the DSP the body of the lady had blood stains and evidence had been collected with the help of villagers.
Some stains were also found away from where the body was thrown in the jungle. Her head too had gnashes. Her chappal was 25 meters away from the place of murder. Sources said she must have struggled hard to save herself and there could be more than two persons to pin her down and commit the crime.
The lady belonged to a poor family and earned her living by selling fire-woods.
The DSP further said she was last seen going home around 5 in the evening on Friday and her body was recovered on Saturday. The post-mortem was done in the Sadar Hospital by a team of doctors. No arrest has been made so far.
