Water oozes out of plateau after explosion

PNS

Villagers of Barkee lamee area in Ramgarh police station in Palamu are still feeling shaken after they heard a loud blast followed by influx of water gushing out of the lamee pahar on Saturday evening. Water flow continued even on Sunday and has washed out nearby vegetation and caused massive landslide.

DIG Saket Kumar Singh, DSP Hiralal Ravi and SI of police Sanjay Kumar Malviya have confirmed the incident that took place about 19 kms from Daltonganj town.

“Water was oozing from the hillock after a massive turbulence occurred on the 650 feet high on Saturday evening. There was a loud gurgling noise. Trees on the hillocks were uprooted,” said DSP Hiralal Ravi. According to eyewitnesses, the flow was quick and massive and accompanied by erosion of soil.

The phenomenon also caught attention of superstitious people who termed the water coming directly from from heaven and collected it!. Many tasted it describing it to be sweetish. Civil Surgeon of Palamu Kalanand Mishra sent in his additional CS SC Jha to find out the fact and also to advise villagers not to try this water in this rainy time as it may cause health hazard.

However the DIG of police Saket Kumar Singh was most studied in his response.

Speaking to the Pioneer the DIG said, “We can not say what happened to this plateau and we would send in a team of police officials to find out the truth. There is a dam about 2 Kms away from this lush green hillock and this dam is rich in water these days. The dam may be behind the disturbance.”

However there is also extremist angle into it and speculations are that IED of naxals may have been hidden there and would have went off causing the explosion. The DIG though denied saying that it could not have brought such a huge water and also no trace of any explosive have come out yet.

“It appears to be some nature’s phenomenon and only a man having knowledge of rocks etc will be able to explain the oozing out of water from there,” said Saket Kumar Singh.
