PNS

Above one thousand people from different walks of life participated in ‘Walkathon’ to celebrate World Heart Day. They included fitness enthusiasts, doctors, entrepreneurs, regular plus differently abled athletes, students and health professionals across the steel city.

The Walkathon was organised at Modi Park (near Kenan Stadium) to create awareness towards making heart-healthy choices for a happier and healthier life.  The walkathon was flagged off by Dr  PerwaizAlam, senior cardiac surgeon and Rupesh R Choubey — facility director, Brahmananda Narayana Multispeciality Hospital, Jamshedpur and key dignitaries of the city.

‘Just Play’ is a theme created by Narayana Health to encourage people in taking-up any sports activity that will keep their heart healthier. The walkathon also sends message that walking is good for heart and a simplest exercise.

Dr Alam remarked that hectic lifestyles, work-life imbalance leading to stress, and unhealthy dietary habits have led to increasing incidences of heart diseases, especially in younger generation. It is high time to think about making right choices for a healthy heart. Therefore, we encourage citizens of Jamshedpur to take up walking and regular physical activities as habitual practice”. CRPF jawans, Government officials, sports persons, police personnel and NH staff also took part the event.

“Treating complex cardiovascular diseases are a challenge that requires a hospital with a highly qualified team of experts with advanced technology and critical care services. We have a team of experienced cardiac experts along with trained nurses and technicians to deal with any form of cardiac problems that occur both among adults as well as children. Walking and playing can improve blood circulation and cardio respiratory fitness”, said Rupesh R Choubey.
