Narayana hospital multispeciality clinic inaugurated
The Brahmananda Narayana Multispeciality Hospital on Sunday organised special events on the eve of the World Heart Day falling on Monday. A ‘Walkathon’ on the theme of ‘Be The Beat’ was held to encourage the people to take a walk everyday for a healthy heart and a healthier life.
This was followed by the inauguration of Narayana Multispeciality Clinic at Sakchi by Jagdish Prasad, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic). A heart screening camp will be conducted at the new clinic on Monday as part of the Day. The check-up includes ECG, BP check as well as consultation with the cardiac experts.
Over 2,000 people took part in the walkathon, which was flagged off from Modi Park (near Keenan Stadium) and concluded at Sakchi – the venue of the new Narayana Multispeciality Clinic.
Rupesh R Choubey, Facility Director, Brahmananda Narayana Multispeciality Hospital said “Creating awareness about good health and focusing on preventive heart care is at the helm of all our activities and services and that’s one of the reasons behind organising these activities on the occasion of World Heart Day. It is very encouraging to see people participating in such large numbers and I wish to thank each and everyone for causing a social influence to keep a healthy heart and a heart healthy environment.”
Stress, erratic lifestyles, poor eating habits, excessive alcohol, smoking and lack of exercise are the key risk factors for heart diseases.
Commenting on this initiative, Dr. Bimlendu Kumar, Senior Cardiologist, Brahmananda Narayana Multispeciality Hospital said,” Coronary heart disease is a condition in which plaque builds-up in the arteries and blocks normal blood flow in the heart. Obesity, diabetes, smoking, hypertension, high cholesterol, sedentary lifestyle, stress and family history are the eight most common risk factors for heart disease which are often ignored. All this can be avoided by making simple alterations to our daily routine. Include a 30 minute walk or any other form of exercise and go for regular health check-up, especially after the age of 40.”
The Department of Cardiology at Brahmananda Narayana Multispeciality Hospital provides comprehensive heart care and emergency services. The expert team of doctors strives to provide finest care for patients and is supported by well-trained staff.
