Fearing of game spoiler role played by regional parties in the lok Sabha polls, the BJP has termed them no different from the Congress or the outfits working with its support.Former national president Nitin Gadkari on Friday said here that the smaller parties had nothing to do with national politics and without any vision.
Addressing media persons after addressing four poll rallies in the constituencies, slated to undergo poll on April 24, Gadkari said, "Regional parties can give 3-4 MPs who go there and do only bargain. Jharkhand regional parties have no role to play in the politics of Delhi. They have no vision and voting to them is like voting to the Congress and also its misrule and bad governance."
Notably the general elections have seen number of regional parties that include AJSU, JMM, JVM, Jharkhand Party, TMC besides host of Independents. Most of the regional outfits are supposed to eat into vote base of the two national parties -- Congress and BJP. last time as well Jharkhand had sent as many as four MPs in the lok Sabha belonging to smaller parties.
The BJP leader though defended the move to take support of the State level parties before or after the elections. "Alliances take place out of compulsions and calculations. Notably the saffron party is in huddle with several local parties in Bihar, UP, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra in the run up to the 16th lok Sabha and in an effort to cross halfway mark of 272 to claim majority.
Hitting out at the Congress, Gadkari said that Sonia Gandhi-led party had demeaned the office of prime minister. "People who have worked with the prime minster are telling and publishing books that Sonia was ruling the country in the name of Manmohan Singh. She was the real power centre who has been responsible for wrong policies, policy paralysis, lack of leadership and corruption," he added.
He also blamed the Congress for making the country insecure both on internal and external fronts, on economic parameters and allowing to become the heart of the country into naxal zone. "Now from Tirupati to Pashupati is known as red-corridor. China has taken a big leap compared to us and our economy has turned into an importing economy with ever growing trade deficit," said Gadkari.
Voting to regional parties like backing Cong misrule: Gadkari
Underling the qualities of BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, he said that a leader needs vision. "Modi has vision which the Congress lacked. We would reduce inflation by 25 per cent and take GDP at 8 per cent after coming into power. We will also appoint an accountability commission but it would not be for vindictive politics," said Gadkari and denounced the claim of the Congress for terming it a communal party. "Congress is a multi-communal party," he said.
