The Election Commission has prepared a comprehensive plan to add people who have been left out in the voter list. Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar on Tuesday said that people left out from the voter list will be added to the list. A comprehensive program has been made for this. The aim of the Election Commission is that every citizen should play an active role in electoral democracy. Kumar was addressing the press at the Election Commission office on Tuesday.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that the Election Commission is making efforts to add voters to the list, common citizens can also enroll themselves as voters by visiting the Voter Service Portal and uploading the necessary documents.

The Election Commission will send their Voter ID card to their address through a speed post. By visiting the same portal, name correction, photo correction, address correction etc. in Voter ID can also be done easily.

He said that while a special camp would be organized to add all the citizens to the voter list, every house would be surveyed and voters would be added to the list and errors would also be rectified. This work will run from 21 July to 21 August. In this, if there is any claim or objection, from October 17 to November 30, 2023, it can be lodged.

A sticker to this effect will also be pasted outside the house to identify it. Along with this, the surveyors will also enter the details related to this in a register. This will also be verified. He said that the commission will have a special focus on adding women, disabled, elderly, third gender, sex workers and primitive tribes to the voter list. He said that the scope of error has been reduced to a great extent due to the digitalization of the entire process of linking with the voter list.

This is the reason that the voter card reaches the voter's address by speed post within 28 days of adding the name to the voter list. He said that there is some difficulty in adding people to the voter list in urban areas as compared to rural areas. The reason for this is the expansion of the city and the continuous construction of houses, apartments etc. at new places. Expressing happiness, he said that the female-male voter ratio in Jharkhand is continuously improving. The ratio of one thousand male voters was earlier 909 women, which has now increased to 946.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that before the publication of the final voter list on January 5, 2024, apart from the pre-revision activity, other necessary works would be settled. For the smooth implementation of this important work, the Chief Electoral Officer appealed for the expected cooperation from the common citizens, representatives of political parties, media and all those associated with this work. He said that the main objective of the Election Commission is that no voter should be deprived of his franchise.
