Director General of Police (DGP) MV Rao on Tuesday said there was a planned conspiracy to attack the Chief Minister’s convoy on Monday evening and those who are involved in this incident will be dealt with an iron hand. The DGP said such people would be crushed and hooliganism will not be tolerated. He said those who are involved in the incident will be punished severely.
The DGP said that the forces behind the violent protest are being identified and they will be subjected to legal action.
Notably, at around 6 pm on Monday evening, people of Kishoreganj area of Birsa Raj Path were protesting against rising rape and murder cases of women in the State. They were demanding action against criminals after a headless body of a girl was found at Ormanjhi near the State Capital. Even after two days the police were unable to trace the head of the girl and the criminals. They pelted stones at the CM’s convoy and injured policemen in the brawl.
After the incident raids were conducted overnight to arrest the accused and several persons were detained. However, whether the detained people were involved in the incident is being verified. The police have started exploring CCTV cameras of the police control room and CCTV footage installed in nearby establishments. Till late night, policemen were busy preparing to register an FIR in the case.
Meanwhile, Ranchi Police announced to raise the reward money in the case. Now, police will give reward money of Rs 50,000 to the person who will provide information about the girl or the accused in the case and the name and address of the person will be kept secret.
Ranchi Police have appealed to the common people to give information about the accused. For this, the description of the deceased has been issued. The girl was between 18 and 22 years of age. Her height was about 5 feet and body colour was wheatish and she was lean and thin. A black thread is tied in the right hand and right leg. There is a black colored mole on the sole of the right leg and black colored mole on the right arm.
