The Mission Rabies Truck is in the capital city and the training of 12 government veterinarians from 10 districts of State in two batches concluded on Friday.

“The training programme was initiated on August 22 with the aim to upgrade the surgical skills of veterinary doctors. State government is also actively promoting this initiative. Secretary, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Nitin Madan Kulkarni has approached the organization to start the similar project in other districts too and soon within few months the programme will be launched in other districts of Jharkhand,” said, Praveen Ohal, North India Regional Manager, Hope and Animal Trust.

On Friday, certificates were distributed among the doctors who have successfully undergone the training procedure and completed it. “India Project for Animals and Nature (IPAN) in association with UK-based Mission Rabies and Worldwide Veterinary Service International Training Centre (WVS ITC) in collaboration with State Animal Husbandry Department will also generate awareness among public about rabies control and humane dog population management in days to come,” added Ohal.

“The flagship of this collaboration is the Mission Rabies Truck, a Mercedez Benz Zetro, a unique mobile veterinary hospital that is equipped with the latest diagnostic and surgical facilities to provide veterinary training to experts across India. The Mission Rabies Truck has been travelling around India since September 2013 inspiring veterinarians in the localities to learn high quality animal birth control surgeries to control the free-roaming dog population,” he said.
