UPA leaders’ complaint against Central agencies to President

PNS

The leaders of ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA) in Jharkhand have written to President of India Droupadi Murmu seeking a curb on Central government’s investigating agencies, which they have alleged, are trying to ‘destabilise a democratically elected government’. The letter has been addressed to the the President through the Governor.

The letter reads, “You are aware that the present coalition government came to power in December, 2019 with immense public support. The people were fed up with the failures, corruption and misgovernance of the BJP government. The people of Jharkhand have high hopes from this new government. When our government, recovering from the horrific period of adverse circumstances like Covid-19, started working rapidly according to the public sentiments, then instead of playing the role of a responsible opposition, the BJP started making malafide attempts to overthrow the elected government.”

“For this, the process of misuse of Central agencies from attempts to break the MLAs continues. As the government continues to do public interest as per its promises, the frustration of the opposition is increasing and the dissatisfaction of the coalition government with the Central agencies such as the Election Commission, E.D. and the activities of Income Tax Department etc have intensified,” they said.

They further stated, “If we look at the role of the Central agencies in the last 6 months, it will automatically become clear that their only objective is to demoralise our elected leader and to harass our popular leader. BJP leaders’ tweets reveal their intentions. Not only this, the leaders left no stone unturned to defame Dishom Guru Shibu Soren. A complaint was lodged against him in the Lokpal. What does it represent after all? It is self-evident from this that the Central agencies want to destabilise the elected government at the behest of the Central government?”

“Madam, being the custodian of the Constitution, you cannot silently watch the ripping-off of democracy. You have to protect the federal structure from being tarnished. You have great accountability especially towards the Dalits, tribals, backward classes and minorities, for the progressive welfare of which the coalition government is working day and night. We can't stop the Central agencies but we can appeal to you! Madam, we would request you to stop the wrongful removal of the popular government elected by the people of Jharkhand,” said the leaders that include MLAs, MPs and several senior leaders of the ruling coalition.
