Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India NN Sinha reviewed various schemes run under the Rural Development Department in the State here on Tuesday. In the review meeting, Sinha discussed in detail the progress of Rurban Mission and National Rural Livelihood Mission.
During the review meeting, Deputy Development Commissioners of 15 districts related to the operation of Rurban Mission were connected through video conference. MGNREGA Commissioner Rajeshwari B made a presentation based on the progress of the Rurban Mission during the meeting. On this occasion, he inaugurated 12 Palash Marts of Sahibganj and 2 of Pakur online. On this occasion, he congratulated the sisters associated with Sakhi Mandal for joining entrepreneurship.
The Union RD Secretary directed the DDCs of the districts involved in the implementation of Rurban Mission to expedite the implementation of Rurban Mission. Expressing dissatisfaction over the expenditure made available for cluster development, he directed to expedite the works of various projects and complete them soon. On reducing the expenditure in lieu of the approved DPR, he said that if there is a need to change the existing perspective in the already approved projects, then it should be done as per rules.
To further improve the implementation of Rurban Mission, the Secretary advised to hold workshops with all the stakeholders and block development officials so that convergence and coordination could be better and the cluster development work could be completed soon.
Sinha appreciated the work of National Rural Livelihood Mission implemented by Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society. Focusing on capacity building of Sakhi Mandals, he directed to expedite the formation of village organization. He said that to connect the didis of Sakhi Mandal with strong livelihood and entrepreneurship, talk to them and choose livelihood for the didis on the basis of local resources. In view of the good income being received by BC Sakhis, Sinha directed to connect DiGi Pay Sakhis with the bank as Banking Correspondent Sakhi.
Sinha stressed on the need to focus efforts to connect women of Sakhi Mandal with a strong livelihood. He directed that arrangements should be made for data collection of livelihood based works of rural families. He talked about providing benefits to more and more families through Custom Hiring Center. He directed to start the Poshan Vatika initiative with all the Sakhi women of Sakhi Mandal. He stressed on the need to work to take the schemes of the government to the remote village families by removing the problems of convergence to make animal husbandry works successful, under this, the gap between the institutions needs to be identified and removed.
He directed to change the strategy by activating Parivartan Didi or Social Action Committee at the level of village organization under the social development initiative.
