Rehaldaag, a village falls under the jurisdiction of latehar police station, mustered courage to say no to the food demand coming from outlawed. Residents though were under intense pressure coming from the ultras.
Confirming the courage shown by the villagers who said no the TPC cadres DSP latehar Anuj Oraon said, “The entire village remained united on this issue. There is no fear. They have denied food to TPC. They said they would continue doing so other Naxal outfits also.” The DSP further said that the villagers have no affiliation with any group or Naxal outfits and hailed the courage shown.
When reminded that peeved TPC cadres beat up a few mourners who were cremating a dead villager identified as Dashrath Singh the DSP said, “This has been brought to our cognizance. The TPC cadres had obstructed the cremation and had beaten up a few youths of this village in sheer frustration.”
Sources said despite being thrashed by TPC cadres at the cremation site the villagers continue with their decision to deny food to extremists. DSP further added that for the TPC the courage shown is like a big shock.
“They now fear what if more such villages stand up against them then from where they will have their free food in villages,” he said.
