Ultimatum of agitation works, dept becomes active

RR Srivastava

After the agitation of Yashwant Sinha on the issue of electricity, the village  Resham of Katkamdag block got illuminated on Thursday evening.

The decade-long demand of the villagers was fulfilled by the department within 16 days and it all happened due to the agitation and Yashwant Sinha’s jail visit.

One more interesting instance of department being active on the ultimatum of agitation which has came from Keredari block.

The denizens of Keredari were fighting for construction of their main road which comes from Barkagaon and goes to Tandwa.

For the construction of this road, leaders of almost all the political parties were trying their best since last 2 years. Finally, they formed an All Party Committee under the convenership of district Congress vice-president Kuldeep Tiwari.

The All Party Committee first gave an ultimatum to the district administration and to the road construction department that if by June 22, the construction work do not start  they will be forced to be on streets and the road will be blocked for indefinite period.

If the department will not hear them then after a week their members will start giving life on road by burning

themselves.

The ultimatum worked and since Friday repairing work of Keredari-Tandwa Road has been started. The 10 km section of this road which starts from Kodwe village to Bukru More is in worst condition and in this rainy season it was sure that supplies to NTPC and ONGC will certainly be hampered.

The executive engineer of road division, Omprakash Yadav, however, refused that the work has been started due to ultimatum and said that since this road is important for NTPC and ONGC, so presently repairing work has been started with a cost of Rs49.99 lakhs and after rainy season the road will be built for which DPR has been finalised.

The story of the bad state of this 10 km section of this road started since 2008-09. The State Government allotted this work to Nandlal Pandey of Rehla-Garhwa .

The contractor never completed the work though the department gave him three chances and several ultimatums.last month on May 14, the denizens of Keredari block assembled in the block meeting hall where the decision of making All Party Committee was taken. Pramukh Sanju Devi chaired the meeting and in that meeting Kuldeep Tiwari was chosen the convener.

On May 20, the delegation of this committee met DC Hazaribagh for the first time and informed him about their future agitation plans.
