PRAGYA PAllAVI

The newly recruited Government school teachers will receive training in English language from resource persons of Trinity College, london. Bridging the gap firmly that exists among the teachers lending their services at private schools and Government cradles; the innovative idea will not just aid Government teachers but will also improve the status of language studies in Government schools across the State.

The training session is likely to commence from October last week, however the date is yet to be finalised by the Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC). In the first phase 3,000 new recruits from across Jharkhand will get training in the basics of the English language.

The MoU signed with the Trinity College suggests that by April 2018 all teachers teaching language papers in Government schools must be covered under this programme. Also, training of at least two teachers from each block must be ensured under this plan by the District Superintendent of Education (DSE).

Notably, the trainee teachers will be graded by the resource persons of Trinity College on different modules on their set parameters.

“The training will be given to only newly recruits appointed in 2015-16 session. The eligible teaching faculty under this programme will be divided into different batches. Under the guidance of six experts, in one batch maximum 250 trainee teachers will receive the training in improving English language. The training will be conducted at Kejriwal Institute of Management and Development Studies from October last week,” said, Project Head, JEPC, K Muthukumar.

There are approximately 40,000 Government schools functioning in Jharkhand presently. The Ranchi District alone has approximately 2,340 Government schools with the strength of over 7,385 teachers.

The trainees who will be awarded with the certificate for successfully completing the programme as per the set modules will act as master trainers and will guide other teachers at their respective blocks.

From each district, around 100 to 150 teachers are expected to register their presence in this new programme.

“As only few teachers will receive the training from the experts, it has been made mandatory for them to conduct regular training sessions for other teachers at their respective block. Considering the level of programme, those teachers having a degree in English language or had studied English as a subsidiary paper in graduation or post graduation level have been given preference,” said, DSE Ranchi, Shivendra Kumar.
