In a bid to ensure development of the backward classes, the Government has decided to review all the recommendations of various committees constituted by the Central Government from time to time for the development of these classes.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday State BJP Spokesperson JB Tubid, said, “First time in India the Modi government has given constitutional status to backward class commission. Now the Raghubar Das led government in the State has decided to start district wise survey of social, economical and educational backward class people. Through this initiative it will be clear to know about reservation in districts. The State government has announced reservation on the basis of survey. This is important and revolutionary work for the backward classes.”
Tubid further added that the Centre and the State government have started a numbers of welfare programmes for backward community. “According to the Constitution of India there is a provision under Article 46 to provide reservation in government jobs to socially and economically backward classes. And the initiative taken by the present State government is commendable and the BJP is appreciating it,” he said.
“However, the Supreme Court has made a rule that reservation limit should not cross 50 per cent however the government will take special initiative for development of backward class within the limit of 50 per cent. At present the State government is giving reservation to Schedule Tribe-15 per cent, Schedule Cast-10 per cent and Most Backward Class- 8 per cent and Other Backward class-6 per cent. Now, the government is thinking to review it on the basis of census.”
Speaking on the matter of Backward Class Corporation, Tubid said, “This is first time in the history on the basis of Schedule Castes and Schedule Tribe Finance Corporation the government is setting Backward Class Finance Corporation with Rs. Five crore for the financial year 2019-20. This fund will help educated youths.”
Speaking on the occasion State BJP Vice President, Aditya Sahu said, “The State government is determined for the development of Backward Class. The CM’s announcement of census based reservation has filled new energy in the society and the State BJP has applauded decision of the CM Raghubar Das. As the CM himself belongs to backward class so that he know the pain of the class. From a labour to Chief Minister he has experienced a long struggle.”
