On March 23, 2013 the denizens of Chandwara, Barhi, Chauparan and Padma blocks were eagerly waiting for the Indian Railway engine, coming here for the first time. At about 3 pm, the engine finally reached its destination — Padma Railway Station, 20 km from Hazaribagh town.
MlA Umashankar Akela, Ex-Minister Manoj Kumar Yadav, MP representative BP Rukhaiyar, Senior BJP leader and Member of Railway Advisory Council Tunnu Gope and others were there to witness the historical moment with a huge gathering of villagers. The trial run of the railway engine on this about 40kms long track started from Koderma junction at about 10:30 am.
Thousands of people were present on both sides of the track and on the stations of the route. Everywhere the driver, his associates and the railway staffs were welcomed with cheers.
The railway engineer said that since it was a trial run and track-testing was also going on side by side so it took more than 4 hour time to travel 40 km distance.
In 1991 when Yashwant Sinha was Finance Minister of this country, first time made this promise public in a meeting at Keshav Hall. In the year 2000 the Koderma-Ranchi rail link project first time came in Railway Budget and since then work is going on.
Several obstructions appeared in its path and now it is on the verge of being complete. The authorities of railway board have assured the completion of Hazaribagh-Koderma rail line by June 2013 and Kodarma-Barkakana by November 2013. The pace of work at the sites creates a hope that this time railway authorities will adhere to their words.
