PNS

To check rampant incidents of traffic violations in the State capital, Traffic Police in Ranchi will be equipped with 450 high resolution CCTV cameras by February next year. At the same time, Traffic personnel in Ranchi are busy preparing data bases of habitual traffic violators, who would be issued e-challan, if again found wrong side of the traffic rules anywhere in the city.

“Habitual traffic violators are being identified at every nook and corner of the city by the traffic personnel

after which we will prepare a data base of such people, who will be imposed fine if

found violating traffic rules as soon as e-challan is launched in Ranchi,” said Traffic SP Sanjay Ranjan Singh. Efforts are being made to introduce e-challan system in Ranchi very soon, for which integration process for the same has been started, he added.

“e-challan issued to

the traffic violators will

have all the details in it including the including date,

time, type of violation, location with its latitude and longitude which could not be defined by

anybody,” said the SP. Payment gateway will also be mentioned in the e-challan, who will be issued notices by the traffic police if they fail to pay the fine within 7 days, he added.

“If the traffic violator does not pay the fine within 15 days of the e-challan issued to him, the case will be referred to the court for prosecution,” said Singh. But, before all these action, a counseling session is being conducted for the traffic violators, along with their parents, so that they may not be able to seek another chance or give excuses that they were not aware of the traffic rules, added the SP.

“So far a list of more than 15000 traffic violators is available with us, whose names will be entered in the data base prepared by us for further reference. They will be dealt strictly, if found violating the traffic rules again,” said the Traffic SP.

He further said that to support the drive against traffic violators strictly, as many as 450 high resolution CCTV cameras were being installed at all vulnerable locations in the State Capital.

“Installation of high

resolution CCTV cameras have been started by identifying the points where they are to be placed and the digging for putting poles in them are going on,” said the SP. Installation process is likely to be completed by February next year following which it will made functional immediately, he added.

Remarkably, Chief Minister Raghubar Das

had announced recently that the State Government had been planning to streamline the traffic management system in the State Capital for which the State Government had been drafting Rs 20-crore project to install high-resolution CCTV cameras across the capital for real-time monitoring of traffic violations.

Recently, 40 traffic

personnel had been given training on using the e-challan device at the police headquarters.

The e-challan device will be attached to a printer to produce the receipt.

Traffic violators will get a receipt and an SMS on his mobile phone regarding the fine. The devices will be connected online and the data would be stored in it so that the traffic police would know the number of offences committed by the driver.
