Production at Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC) in Ranchi remained affected on the third consecutive day after workers resorted to a tool down strike.
Workers are unhappy over non-payment of salary from the past seven months. They alleged top officials of HEC were milching and looting HEC for their benefits but they are not taking cognizance of the problem faced by them.
On Monday workers had confined five top officials of the company in a room for six hours for pressurizing them to meet their demand. Ultimately, on Thursday all 3000 staff of three plants of HEC namely heavy machine-building plant, foundry forged plant and heavy machine tool plants observed tool down strike.
There are currently 1350 permanent officers-employees in the company. Besides, there are around 1700 supply workers.
Workers made shocking allegations that despite HEC getting huge orders for manufacturing tools and equipment from the army and other important organizations their salary is not paid.
