In an advisory released on Tuesday, the Disaster Management Department has cautioned people of Jharkhand to prepare for thunderstorms for the next 72 hours in several parts of the State. There are predictions of winds blowing at speeds reaching up to 60 km/h.
“We have detected an eastern disturbance in Bay of Bengal which will result in heavy rains and thunderstorms after Wednesday afternoon. Southern and Eastern Jharkhand will be affected the most. The first effect will be a drop in temperature and thunderclaps.
There will be no adverse impact on the agriculture though,” stated Disaster Management SPO Sanjay Kumar Shrivastava.
He further added, “People should dress warmly considering the drop in temperatures. Also people should refrain from driving after dark. In case of thunderclaps, people should resort to safe places like buildings and such.”
