Tenughat power plant units resume production

SURESH NIKHAR

Power generation at the Tenughat Thermal power Station (TTPS) of unit number no -1 and 2 resumed as the technical fault in the unit was ratified on Monday evening.General Manager of TTPS, GR Das said that the unit lighted up at late night on Saturday, adding that the load would be increased gradually. He said the unit no -1 of TTPS was producing 170 to 180 MW at around late in the evening on Monday, adding the output would be further increased if required. The TTPS management is all set to start generation from the unit no -2 from Monday evening. However, the management of TTPS was able to lighted up the unit no -2 on Monday morning at around 5 am, however, the unit has been successfully synchronised with greed late Monday evening at 7pm. Power generation at the TTPS has registered a significant improvement during the past two days .

On the generation front, TTPS has set a record of 345 MW everyday .According to TTPS sources ,the total generation of TTPS recorded last on Tuesday afternoon are 350MW .The TTPS was producing 175 MW from unit no-1 while unit no -2 of TTPS recorded   170 MW . The general manager of the plant GR Das said that the units would being functioning at its full capacity by Monday night. The TTPS has 2 units of 210 MW each.

The units were stopped after technical problem developed in its tube. The improvement is largely depends on the guidance of General Manager of TTPS, G R Das. Notably power generation by unit number -1 & 2 got forced tripped due to tube DM water troubles, any machines laying ideal for a long period develops minor faults –Das further added .

The general manager G.R. Das said that despite minor hiccup the Tenughat Thermal Power Station (TTPS) was performing well and its plant load factor (PlF) reached up to 85 to 90 percent .He added that power plant were prone to systematic fault like tube leakage in any time .The shut down has definitely caused a huge loss but it has not dampened the working spirit of TTPS engineers as well as operatives of electrical and mechanicals –general manager further added.

As per information provided by general manager, TTPS, a unit of the Tenughat Vidyut Nigam limited, is the back bone of the state’s power production .It has two units which produce 420 MW electricity. The TVNl supplied the entire power produced in TTPS to the Jharkhand State Electricity Board (JSEB) that is later distributed across the state. The plant consumes around 7,000 tonne of coal when both the units arte producing at its optimal level.

Sources said that the TTPS was depend on a daily supply of 25,00 tones of coal coming from CCl mines in Bokaro for past few days .A breakdown on Saturday had brought power standstill ,the shut down will result in power crisis in the state ,especially in Ranchi ,Jamshedpur and Dhanbad .
