Most of the Government high schools in the district are facing shortage of teachers. At present, more than 80 per cent of the posts of teachers in Government high schools have been lying vacant.

According to District Education Officer Ram Yatan Ram, altogether 44,656 students are studying in 19 Government High School,14 Kasturba Gandhi High Schools, 7 Project High Schools and 66 Upgraded High Schools in the district. To teach the students only 230 teachers are posted in these schools against sanctioned post of 1152. Altogether posts of 922 teachers have been lying vacant. 66 junior schools in the district were upgraded to high school three years ago but no teachers were recruited or posted there for the next two years to teach higher classes.

District Education office deputed 77 junior school teachers are adjusted in those upgraded schools. Worthwhile to mention here that High School was upgraded to provide education to the students at their doorstep. But nothing could help to the students in absence of teacher in these schools.
