Tata Power rolls out 'Skills on Wheels'

PNS

Tata Power inaugurated Tata Power Skill Development Institute’s (TPSDI) Skills on Wheels, a mobile concept to make skill trainings more accessible to the people. Through this ‘mobile’ training and assessment center, TPSDI will provide Recognition of Prior learning (RPl), Motor Rewinding, Solar Skills; training and accreditation to neighborhood electricians, etc.

The objective of launching Skills on Wheels is to provide trainings to neighborhood electricians by making training s more accessible to them.

It is essentially a 16 x 8 x 8.6 ft. mobile container designed to seat 12 trainees at a time. At one end of the container is the Neighborhood Electrician’s Simulator for Testing (NEST), which contains multiple electrical points commonly found in typical Indian homes. The NEST, connected to an electrical motor, can be configured to create multiple faults intended to be rectified by the trainees.

Speaking on the occasion, Anil Sardana, MD & CEO, Tata Power, said, “We appreciate  TPSDI efforts in taking forward PM’s vision of ‘Skill India Mission’. TPSDI will next expand its footprints beyond its four training hubs through a Hub and Spoke model which will include more mobile spoke centers like the TPSDI - Skills on Wheels.  Over the next few years, we aspire to make TPSDI one of the best in class technical training set ups in India.”
