The famous Pahari temple of Ranchi is all set to make a world record. Tallest flagpole on the temple premises will enhance the beauty of the place and the members associated with the Pahari Vikash Samiti are putting sincere efforts to develop the place as one of the major tourist destinations in the city.

Citing the details about the work progress, Ranchi DC, Manoj Kumar said, “The final work of putting aviation light work will be completed within a week, latest by January 22 and inauguration will be done accordingly as discussed with the members of committee earlier, but as far as unfurling of flag by the Prime Minister is concerned nothing has been confirmed yet. We have not received consent from Prime Minister’s Office. However, we have contacted our CM to approach PM for the auspicious occasion. The team may also approach Defence Minister, Manohar Parrikar, who will visit Godda to participate in army school function. “

The district administration is also planning to organize awareness campaign to create awareness about the importance of flag and other related issues. “There will be one vehicle carrying the flag and we will also try to contact few freedom fighters who have unfurled the flag in early 1950 at Pahari temple,” added Kumar.

National Flag is being hoisted at Pahari Mandir since early 1950, the place was known as ‘Phansi Tongri’, where freedom fighters were hanged by the British viceroys. Pahari Mandir is the only temple in the country to continue with the 68 years old tradition of hoisting the National Flag, which was started in 1947.

Giving details about the security aspect Kumar added, “Since nothing is confirmed yet so we have not yet made any concrete plan. The entire thing is under process. Moreover, we have made two conceptual plans. We have demarcated the ‘Eidgah’, as the cable reaches till specific point and will be convenient for PM to unfurl the flag from the particular spot. Secondly, we have also planned to use ITC technology, which will help PM to unfurl the flag from any place.”

“If all goes well, then we have to make alternate traffic arrangements plan with the help of traffic police personnel and follow other protocols too,” added Kumar.

The flagpoles have been supplied by a Pune-based structural engineering company, ‘Wall mount’. The flagpole is 81-metre (265.74 feet) tall and the flag will be of the dimension of 99 feet by 66 feet. Total nine poles are to be put and presently all the technically trained labourers have successfully put four poles.

Before the final inauguration ceremony, the members will do the recce of the entire event to check the feasibility of the project. Approximately, Rs. 1 crore 20 lakh has been invested in this ambitious project.
