Under NTPC’s subsidiary, NTPC Mining Limited (NML), the Talaipalli Coal Mining Project has achieved remarkable milestones in the financial year 2024-25, setting new benchmarks not only in coal production but also in social development and environmental sustainability.
During FY 2024-25, the project achieved coal production of 11.03 million tonnes and dispatch of 10.34 million tonnes, marking year-on-year growth of 46% and 47% respectively compared to FY 2023-24. This exceptional performance not only demonstrates the success of NTPC’s visionary leadership but also underscores the pivotal role of NML in realizing the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India). NTPC Mining Limited today stands as a strong pillar, continuously contributing to the nation’s energy independence by supplying coal to various power plants.
As a recognition of its commitment towards environment and quality, the Talaipalli Mines was honored with a 4-Star Rating by the Government of India. On the social responsibility front, the project’s initiatives have been equally commendable—17 medical camps benefiting 642 rural residents, eye check-ups for 445 students with free spectacles for 82 children, and screening of 2,000 workers under the “TB Mukt Bharat” (Tuberculosis-Free India) campaign are shining examples of this commitment.
The contribution of the project in the field of infrastructure development has also been significant—an investment of ?2.43 crore towards the construction of a primary school and Anganwadi center in Salhapali village. Additionally, the distribution of school bags to 1,700+ children, installation of high-mast lights in public locations including the Gharghoda stadium, and the annual campaign for girl empowerment reflect the project’s deep sensitivity towards community development.
So far, NTPC Talaipalli has invested over ?50 crore in community-oriented initiatives, driving holistic regional development. As part of its Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) 2025, a 28-day residential training camp was organized in which 40 girls from 13 villages participated, receiving training in academics, culture, and life-skills—a truly inspiring step fostering self-reliance among the new generation.
The Talaipalli project has also set high standards in the field of safety. Securing top positions across categories during the Mines Safety Fortnight 2024 and conducting disaster management drills in collaboration with NDRF reaffirm that safety remains the project’s foremost priority.
Today, the NTPC Talaipalli Coal Mining Project has emerged not merely as an industrial enterprise, but as a symbol of social commitment, environmental balance, and energy self-reliance. Undoubtedly, this project is strengthening the narrative of a progressive and transformational India.
