Surrendered CPI (Maoists) rebel Marshal Tuti on Sunday joined the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. Tuti's wife Salomi Tuti along with her supporters also joined the party and pledged support on his behalf. Tuti is presently lodged at Hazaribagh open jail who intends to contest elections from Tamar Assembly constituency from the jail.

According to Salomi, Tuti has joined politics for the noble cause of uplifting the constituency. "Since the JMM is a regional party, which has earlier given a chance to other people who got diverted and finally wanted to join the mainstream, my husband Marshal Tuti also decided to join this party," said Salomi Tuti. Marshal wants to contest elections from Tamar by remaining in the jail, she said.

The JMM, claiming that Tuti's induction will strengthen the party in the area, said that it is the policy of the party to induct those who got diverted from the mainstream and wish to join it back, giving them a chance to get rehabilitated into the society.

"These people who are also our brothers and sisters, if want to join the mainstream, there is no harm in giving them a chance to lead a dignified life in the society," said party spokesperson Suprio Bhattacharya.

Kameshwar Baitha, Paulus Sirin, Yugal Pal, Satish Kumar as well as Masicharan Purti are some of the those who were given a chance to continue their struggle for the poor and downtrodden under the provisions of the Constitution, Bhattacharya added.

Understandably, Tuti will be fielded against the sitting Tamar MlA and former Minister in the Arjun Munda Government in Jharkhand Gopal Krishna Pater, because of whom JMM supremo Sibu Soren had to resign from the post of Chief Minister in the year 2009 when defeated at the hands of Pater by a margin of 9,062 votes.

Marshal Tuti along with Suresh Munda of the CPI (Maoist) had surrendered with their arms before the then Director General of Police Neyaz Ahmed under the scheme, 'Nai Disha,' on August 5, 2010. Since then, his wife has regularly been raising her voice against the Government for keeping up its promises made while surrendering before the police.
