The office bearers are yet to get proper workplace to commence their tasks for carrying out different student welfare programme, as promised earlier by the Ranchi University (RU) officials to the leaders as per the varsity statutes. With just a short tenure left for student representatives to accomplish several social endeavors on college campuses, student leaders are clueless about their workplace as RU is yet to hand over the office to the elected representatives. Even disclosure of funds is yet to be done formally by the university officials, claimed few student union representatives.
“We have not been informed that where exactly the office will be situated. RU officials in December had claimed that they would provide us with the well-furnished setup on or before January 17,” said, Puja Kumari, a student leader elected for the post of vice-president.
However, Dean Student Welfare, Dr. SC Gupta has asserted that soon a separate office will be given to the elected representatives at the Maulana Azad Institute of Comparative literature and National Integration for Comparative Study at Morabadi Campus. “All essential work at Maulana Azad Institute at Morabadi campus has been complete. We have informed the office bearers to take the charge at the earliest, however, student representatives have been delaying in taking up the charge as they are planning some elaborate activities before taking up the charge officially,” said Gupta.
“Furthermore, after January 24, the final date will be fixed for handling over the office to the student representatives at Morabadi,” added Gupta.
On the other hand, irrespective of issuing the guidelines to the constituent college principals to upload all the details of their student fund collections immediately after issuing the election notification, so far only few colleges has furnished the financial details on its official websites. Approximately, 16 constituent colleges participated in the student union election this year.
“Fiscal details are yet to be disclosed by the colleges. leaving few colleges like Marwari College, other colleges have yet not uploaded the financial details on respective college website,” said Nitish Singh elected for the post of general secretary.
