A 20-year-old girl slapped a senior medical officer at MGM Medical College and Hospital’s emergency ward on Friday morning. The police took her into custody for her act. The girl, Preeti Kumari, who is a student of Jamshedpur Women's College, said that she slapped the doctor as he refused to admit for the treatment of her internal injury despite pleading for the same.

According to sources, Preeti was referred to the MGM Medical College and Hospital by the Kadma police for treatment of the alleged injury during an assault by her uncle JP Soni on Thursday night. As she reached the emergency ward the senior medical officer Arun Kumar checked her and gave the necessary medical treatment.

The doctor asked the police team accompanied by the girl to take her back. But the girl continued to claim that she had sustained internal injuries in the waistline and also in her stomach. “She wanted to get admitted and reluctant to return and when the doctor refused to admit her, out of rage she slapped the officer. To our utter surprise the girl slapped thrice at the face of the senior medical officer in front of the other doctors and staff nurse,” said a source.

Immediately after the incident, the doctor called in the Sakchi police and filed a written complaint against the girl, leading the police to take the girl into custody.

The doctor, Arun Kumar, when asked, said that the girl had no injury as such and he had conducted thorough checking of her. “ When I refused admission, she got angry and slapped me repeatedly," said the doctor.
