State Congress president cautions disgruntled MLAs

The president of Jharkhand Congress Rajesh Thakur has taken a strong note of some of the party MLAs making controversial statements at the public forum instead of raising their matter at the party platform.

Notably, four MLAs Irfan Ansari (Jamtara), Uma Shankar Akela (Barhi), Naman Bixal Kongari (Kolebira) and Rajesh Kachhap (Khijri) held a meeting on Thursday evening. Later on they issued several statements criticising the Congress’ minister in the Hemant Soren-led government. They alleged that the Congress ministers ignore MLAs of their own party and their proposals related to their assembly constituencies are ignored. They also said that MLAs have to wait for hours to meet these ministers and alleged that neither people nor party workers are happy with their performance. They should be replaced.

They claimed that there are five other MLAs of the Congress who are unhappy with them. Irfan Ansari informed that they have sought an appointment with Rahul Gandhi to lodge their complaints about ministers and the functioning of the party in Jharkhand.

Congress has four ministers in the Hemant Soren government led government namely Dr. Rameshwar Oraon (Finance and Food and Civil Supplies), Alamgir Alam (Rural Development), Badal (Agriculture) and Banna Gupta, who is the health minister.

Rajesh Thakur said that through media reports he came to know that these MLAs held a meeting and made some statements before the media came to know about their meeting and statements they made.

“We can’t have a similar opinion and we can disagree on many issues. But there is a proper place and forum where such matters should be discussed. They should raise the issue before the party forum,” he said.

He pointed out that after Avinash Pande was appointed as in-charge of Jharkhand Congress he shared and sought opinions from party workers.

“This includes the three-day Chintan Shivir in Giridih at Parasnath where everybody got the opportunity to share his view in front of Rahul Gandhi. He thrice held meetings of the legislative body of the party and he is regularly visiting Jharkhand and interacting with everybody. If anybody has any problem, they can share with me or the in-charge,” he said.
