State BJP to seek central party backing

While the State BJP unit has begun its awakening campaign called Jan Jagaran abhiyan in Ranchi on Thursday, the Executive Committee members of the party have flown to Goa to take part in the national council and national executive meetings.

Senior leaders of the party said that they would request the central leadership to support them in formulating clear strategy for the upcoming polls and provide necessary backing for their demand of dissolution of Assembly in State.“We will apprise the central leadership of the present political condition and the state of political uncertainty prevailing in the State. We will make them aware as to what sort of

circumstances led to imposition of President’s Rule in the State and will request them to provide us support for seeking dissolution of the Assembly from the President,” said State BJP President Ravindra Rai over phone from Mumbai. The State BJP unit has earlier requested the central leadership to seek appointment from President Pranab Mukherjee. As per the plan, a delegation comprising central and State unit leaders would meet the President, make him aware about the present

political condition of the State and request for dissolution of Assembly.

Although the Goa meet is said to be primarily focused on States like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, leaders from Jharkhand are expecting that their concerns would be paid due attention during the meeting. They feel that the support of central leadership was a must for the state unit of the party to sail swiftly through the upcoming polls. “Formation of a Government with full majority in the State has remained a dream of the BJP ever since the formation of Jharkhand. We want to accomplish this dream this time and for that, we need complete support from the central leadership,” Rai said.

“Just like the party is formulating poll strategy for upcoming polls in four States — Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh - we will request that Jharkhand to be considered as the fifth State where elections will be held. We will need central assistance in making the poll strategy so that we could fulfill the dream,” he added.

The State BJP unit has been demanding dissolution of State Assembly ever since the fall of Arjun Munda led government in January this year. Despite too much hullaballoo from side of State Congress leaders and the JMM, no one till date has come forward for government formation in the State. The State Assembly has been put on suspended animation status and under President's Rule, which will end on July 18.

The BJP has been raising its voice for immediate dissolution of Assembly and announcement of mid-term polls, but the Centre is yet to take firm decision over the issue.
