State BJP bid to make 'Run for Unity' a big hit

Six digit salaries and glamour of working in multinational firms seemed too little a thing for the IIM, IIT graduates, who left their lucrative jobs to serve the nation for a better cause and play a responsive role in nation building.

The concept of national unity did make the four young volunteers of Citizens for Accountable Governance (CAG) — a non-profit organisation — actively takes part in the Statue of Unity Movement and enlighten the representatives of Jharkhand with intricacies of the movement here on Saturday.

A group of four volunteers of the CAG gave presentation to the stakeholders (representatives of different organisations) about Run for Unity campaign as a part of the Statue of Unity Movement at BJP State headquarters seeking everyone to mobilise people for the upcoming events, especially the Run for Unity that is to be organised at each district headquarter on December 15.

The team, presently stationed in the eastern region of country, will be looking after the activities of the campaign and will provide all strategic assistance to the stakeholders from time to time. Aditya Ganguli, an alumnus of IIM-Calcutta and resident of Jhansi with his batch mate Ashok Kumar an alumnus of (IIT Roorkee, IIM-C), Prateek Jain of Ranchi an alumnus of IIT Bombay and his batch mate Harshit Sharma from Bhopal were here for the workshop on the ambitious campaign.

"We are here to make the stakeholders aware of the campaign that is going on across the country for unity. The stakeholders through their representatives have to pass on the message to their rural counterparts. And finally we intend to reach every gram panchayat of the country and reach the urban masses too. Run for Unity will be the first and major event in the process," said Ganguli.

"The campaign in Jharkhand is yet to gain momentum as we can see that the district level committees have not been formed yet. But we hope things will fall in line soon. Run for Unity would a litmus test for the campaign here in Jharkhand," said Jain, adding that CAG was a group of 60-70 odd highly trained professional who have joined the cause of 'nation building'.

Earlier, during the workshop, senior BJP leader Saryu Roy, who also happens to be the a member of the panel at national level to see the iron collection for the statue addressed participants and instructed them not to miss even a single village of the State in the iron collection process. He also instructed the representatives present there to collect pictures of Mukhiyas and Pramukhs of each Panchayat so that those could be used at the statue site. The target was to collect iron from each village of 565 districts of the country, Roy added.

"We will soon form district and block level committees to look after the iron collection work across the State. Our purpose is more to spread awareness about the message of unity given by Sardar Patel than to weigh the contribution of iron from villagers. Since it is not a BJP campaign and there are several partners involved in it, it becomes collective responsibility of the citizens of the nation to actively take part in the campaign," he said.

The leader also informed that public and private schools across the State will be requested to organise essay competitions at their end on Sadar Patel, for which rewards worth Rs 2.5 crore would be given to schools. He also said that a 2.5 lakh km long banner with special paper would be made during the campaign.

Senior BJP leaders including, State unit president Ravindra Rai, State in-charge Dr Ramapati Tripathi among others attended the workshop and said that Jharkhand BJP would make the campaign a huge success in the State.
