Jharkhand State Bar Council Ranchi bats for lawyers to be covered under the Ayushman Yojna.
The first lady member of the Jharkhand State Bar Council and chairperson of the women grievance cell of this council Rinku Kumari Bhakat has handed down a petition to this effect to the Health Minister Banna Gupta said sources.
Lawyer Bhakat, who practises at Jharkhand High Court, today said there are around 28,000 lawyers across the state who are in practice of law at district to sub divisional level appearing in various courts and tribunals.
She said the covid pandemic has rendered the lives of the lawyers struggling besides their health issues remain staring at them following no elegant medical coverage like Ayushman Yojna.
Lawyer Bhakat has urged the government to bring in the lawyers and their dependents under the national health coverage Ayushman Yojna.
She said the Health minister gave her a patient hearing on this matter.
She said the contribution of the lawyers in hard times like this can't be overlooked. She reiterated that lawyers also offer free legal aid to eligible poor and deprived clients who fit in the ambit of the poverty dimension.
