The State Government has put a stay on the decision of Palamu district administration to terminate the service of 435 para teachers of the district who failed to submit documents related to their appointment.

The Government has put a stay on the termination of services of these teachers on the directive of the Assembly Speaker.

Assembly speaker, Dinesh Oraon, has asked to constitute an Assembly committee on teachers’ dismissal and submit the report by September this year.  An MLA from Palamu region requesting anonymity said, “The Speaker’s directive to put a stay of para teachers’ termination is big relief to teachers. The Speaker has constituted a committee of Vidhan Sabha which will submit its report by September. By September, model code of conduct will come into force and during the time no government order can be issue.” The stay on termination will be lifted only by next year when the new Government formation takes place.

The lawmaker welcoming the Speaker’s directive claimed that there are around 67,000 para teachers working in State and their votes assume importance for political parties.

The Speaker decided to constitute the committee on Friday the last day of Monsoon session when BJP MLA from Chhatarpur and party Chief Whip in Assembly Radha Krishna Kishore raised the issue in Assembly. Kishore, raising the issue in House said that the fate of 435 para teachers in Chhatarpur and Naudiha block hangs in balance. Based on the report of Palamu deputy development commissioner, the services of 435 para teachers were to be terminated for non-submission of their documents of appointment to concerned department.

Kishore claimed that the report of deputy development commissioner is third such report on para teachers’ appointment. In two earlier reports there is anomalies as in one report their appointments has found to be correct while in other report discrepancies has been found in teachers appointment. Kishore also stated that para teachers were asked to submit their documents at district level, but most of the para teachers documents are already submitted at block office.

Meanwhile, Jharkhand Para Teachers Sangarsh Morcha member, Sanjay Dubey has welcomed the Speaker’s decision to constitute a committee. Dubey said, “The teachers were appointed at Gram Siksha Samiti on the recommendations of Prakhand Siksha Samiti. The papers related to appointment are under the possession of Prakhand Siksha Samiti and not with teachers.”

Dubey, also claimed that from August 15, the teachers will launch an agitation in support of their demands which includes regularisation of their services and salary and benefits as per Government staff.
